Focus on the Customer · 199 days ago

The second XP Day North America took place in Herndon, Virginia at the offices of Digital Focus on September 24, 2005. Our special guests included Bill Wake, Jeff Nielsen and a few of Digital Focus’ own clients. Deb Hartmann rejoined us to facilitate Open Space. The location helped make this event special, as its smaller common areas gave rise to strong collaboration among small groups.

Bill began the day sharing his vision of the customer role in XP, relating how the community has fallen short in supporting the customer, but giving us some hope for the future as we begin to do that better.

I introduced the audience to XP by talking about how the Theory of Constraints and sound business goals motivate the practices. Jeff Nielsen gave a tutorial on expressing business rules as tests. Our special event was a panel discussion in which real customers told us how XP changed the way they work.

You can look at the original event web site to learn more about the event.
